“Ask for what you want and be prepared to get it.”

-Maya Angelou

I remember when I was a little kid, I believed everything was possible. I would sit for hours on my bed focusing on trying to levitate because I knew that I was capable of doing it if I tried hard enough. But then I grew up. I was brainwashed by the educational system (especially the medical educational system) and I started to believe in only what I could see. What I once thought was possible, I now referred to as “woo woo” if there weren’t hundreds of peer-reviewed studies about it.

The funny thing about life is that now all of that has changed again. Through a series of synchronicities and a beautiful journey, I now know beyond all reasonable doubt that anything is possible. One of those anythings happens to be something immensely powerful called manifestation.

Manifesting is making everything you want to feel and experience a reality… via your thoughts, actions, beliefs, and emotions. This may sound incredibly “woo woo” to you, and that’s totally okay. However, I have no doubt that it’s possible as I have seen it work many times in my own life and in others. My logical thinking brain also likes that there is a scientific explanation for how it works: the law of attraction. Physics tells us that two entities vibrating at the same frequencies are pulled towards each other (like attracts like). The same thing happens to be true of our thoughts, actions, and emotions. When we think, feel, and act a certain way, we attract that very same thing into our lives.

In addition, quantum physics further helps us understand how manifestation actually works on the quantum level. We know that reality is not just a static thing, and the observer effect tells us that the very act of observing something actually changes it. According to Nobel Prize winner Max Planck:

“As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clearheaded science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about the atoms this much: There is no matter as such! All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particles of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together… We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent Mind. This Mind is the matrix of all matter.”

I could go further into the quantum physics behind manifesting but won’t bore you with it here. You can check out this article if you are interested in reading more.

The bottom line is that we know that we all create our own realities via our consciousness. I’ll say it again. We all create our own realities. I do realize this can be a hard pill to swallow, especially if you feel like things are not going the way you want in your life. However, this basic truth is actually the seed for true empowerment. This truth gives the power back to YOU. Nothing or no one can take that power away from you. I can’t think of anything more empowering than that!

Manifestation is essentially possible when you realize that you have the power to create your own reality, and then you use the power of attraction to manifest whatever you desire. One thing to keep in mind here is that manifestation is NOT simply positive thinking. It’s much more powerful than that, and it does require work. However, I can attest that you truly can have anything you desire, if you put in the time and effort.

Here are some tips on manifesting:

    1. Be very clear about your goals, and extremely specific with details. In addition to saying and thinking what you want, it can be helpful to write it down or even consider making a vision board.
    2. Let go of any resistance or limiting beliefs. Many people have beliefs about what they deserve and don’t deserve. If you don’t really believe you are worthy of success, it won’t ever come your way. It takes a lot of work to change these beliefs, but you can learn to work through this!
    3. Focus on what you WANT, not what you LACK. This is absolutely key to effective manifestation. For example, if you want more money, it’s important to focus on having more money by thinking about and feeling what that would be like, instead of focusing on the fact that you currently don’t have enough money, can’t pay your bills, etc.
    4. Practice gratitude. You might not think this would be a part of a manifestation practice, but it is so important! Make sure to do this every day, and ideally many times a day. Consider keeping a gratitude journal. Focus on everything you are thankful for. If something you asked for manifests, bathe in the gratitude you have for receiving it. Not only does gratitude help you manifest, but it also has a TON of other physical and mental health benefits.
    5. Develop practices that increase your voltage (energy). The higher your energy, the more powerfully you will manifest (plus you will also receive a million other health benefits). Helpful practices to increase your voltage include meditation, yoga, grounding, and limiting time on your electronic devices.
    6. Take action! Manifesting is not a passive process. It’s not about you asking for what you want, and waiting until it magically appears. This is actually a joint endeavor between you and the universe. If you want something to happen, start working towards bringing it into your life.

How does all of this sound to you? Have you ever tried manifesting something? How did it go? I’d love to know. :)
