Tonight I had a naked dance party with my toddler and my infant. This is an almost nightly event in our home. Tonight we danced to some Macklemore songs, including “And We Danced.” As I jumped around the room, I let everything go. I flung my body intensely and soaked in the moment. It was so epic that it occurred to me that if everyone danced naked every day (with full intensity in the moment), we would have significantly less mental and physical woes.
The other Macklemore song that we danced to was “Good Old Days.” It’s a beautiful song and I realized as I was listening to the lyrics that it’s basically a song about mindfulness, which is the concept of living in the present moment. I cried profusely, as I frequently do when I’m fully in the living, breathing, powerful here and now. And it was absolutely beautiful.
