“The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see it.”

– Thich Nhat Hanh

The Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy Group Seminar that we started at Free Range Psychiatry several weeks ago has been so much fun and I am continually inspired by all of the amazing group members. This past week, the ideas of “perfection” and “goals” came up. And I posed this question to the group: what if you are perfect RIGHT NOW? What if it’s not about the “next goal” or “what I can achieve next month” or “what I’ll be in a year”? What if we are all perfect, right now, at this very moment? What if we are all doing the very best that we can RIGHT NOW? What if this moment is the most precious moment there is? For me, this brings so much peace. I am definitely guilty of getting caught up in future goals, future plans, and future perfection. But I challenge you all to live in this moment. To live it. To breathe it. To be it. This present moment can be full of joy and happiness, despite the challenges that we are all currently facing. This moment is all we have. It is everything. And to live in the past or the future is to miss all the beauty that is the present. That is this moment.

I hope you enjoy the photos in this post, which were all taken during moments in my life in the past month where I realized that this moment was the most precious moment there is.

Namaste,

Dr. Campbell
